About the Third Space Network
“Third places are the anchors of community life. They are the places where people gather, apart from home and work.”
— Ray Oldenburg, The Great Good Place
The Third Space Network is part of MODA Vi's applied research on civic life and urban experience. It identifies and verifies spaces that serve as informal public anchors: places where belonging, conversation, and creativity still happen face to face.
A third space is neither home (first place) nor work (second place). It's the café where regulars greet each other, the park bench where neighbors pause, the studio where strangers become collaborators.
We verify all entries to ensure accuracy, quality, and genuine community value. This is not a commercial listing: it's a curated directory of places that matter.
Accessibility
Open to the public, welcoming to all, with low or no barriers to entry.
Conversation
Designed for interaction, not isolation. People talk here.
Regulars
Repeat visitors who form the social fabric of the place.
Leveling
Status doesn't matter. Everyone is equal here.
